SQM Sees Lithium Demand Growing 10 Percent in 2014

Sociedad Quimica y Minera de Chile (ADR) (SQM) (NYSE:SQM) released its financial results for the three months and nine months ended September 30 2014. The company reported increased revenues from its lithium operations - up by 4.1 percent and 10.2 percent year-on-year for the first nine months and 3 months of the year respectively. However, the company also commented on what it sees as continued strong demand for lithium.

Nemaska Lithium Closes $1,250,000 Financing

Nemaska Lithium (TSXV:NMX) has closed the first tranche of its previously announced offering for gross proceeds of $1,250,000. Nemaska will use the proceeds to continue the permitting process for its projects and to build and operate a mine and concentrator on the Whabouchi property.

Australia’s Cobre Montana Secures New Processing License Agreements

Cobra Montana NL (ASX:CXB) has entered new processing license agreements with Strategic Metallurgy P/L for a proprietary process to produce lithium from Cobra's lithium properties in Western Australia. According to Mining Australia, the agreement could see the state become an important lithium supplier.

Pure Energy Minerals (TSXV:PE, FWB:AHG) announced that Alexi Zawadzki has been appointed as the vice-president of business develompment. Zawadzki trained as a hydrologist and has 17 years of experience in developing resource projects, founding Swift Power Corp. (a TSX Venture start-up) in the renewable energy sector that was later sold to Veresen.

Stria Lithium to Receive Up To $137,700 from Canadian Government

Stria Lithium (TSXV:SRA) has received a funding commitment of up to $137,700 from the Government of Canada through the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP). The funding will be in support of Stria's development of its lithium processing technologies.

Reed Resources Secures Patent for Lithium Hydroxide Production Process

Reed Industrial Minerals (RIM) which is 70 percent owned by Australia's Reed Resources (ASX:RDR) has been granted a patent for its proprietary process for the production of lithium hydroxide directly from spodumene concentrates. RIM is also 30 percent owned by Mineral Resources Limited (ASX:MIN) which funds and operates RIM's Mt Marion Lithium Project.
