Strong Lithium demand from the electronics sector as well as the hybrid and electric vehicles industry is expected to increase by 34 percent by 2025. The major growth will be seen after 2016 when vehicle manufacturers begin to leave behind nickel-metal-hybrid batteries for Lithium-based batteries. An estimated 16 million electric and hybrid vehicles will be on the road worldwide by 2025 and these vehicles are expected to use 181,000 tonnes of Lithium carbonate in batteries.
